New Frenchie Owner

This is Cosmo (aka Gremlin). My wife and I adopted him from our local animal shelter. We are not frenchie people but we fell in love with him shortly after our dog passed away. He was found as a stray starving on the streets and he had rocks and sticks in his stomach. Our friend happened to be fostering him and one thing lead to another.

Personally, I’ve never seen a dog that looked quite like this. We assumed a backyard breeder was cross breeding frenchies with something else to achieve the longhair trait, but we just got his dna results back and they are saying 100% French bulldog.

Have any of you seen a frenchie that looked like this? He is long and lean and his face isn’t quite as pudgy as I’m accustomed to seeing. Now I am worrying that maybe the breeder was heavily inbreeding their stock of dogs and that’s why he looks a little odd. Once again we adopted him so I know nothing about the breeder or his origins.

I know asking for opinions on the internet is a risky thing but I’m open to hearing what others who may be more knowledgeable have to say. TIA.
