Harpers Ferry National Historical Park will be participating in the National Park Service's (NPS) Eastern Grasslands Initiative this year.
• Starting in May and continuing into September, a cooperator will conduct up to three NPS-approved herbicide applications on those grasslands. Trails in those project areas will be closed for up to 8 hours during operations.
• Site preparations this year will allow for reseeding of the grassland areas next year.
• The project will have long-term benefits: more diverse, healthier native grassland plant species that better support wildlife, including pollinators and ground nesting birds.
