[BC] Shipping to US - Outrageous Shipping Fees due to Tarrifs?

I am trying to ship a 8 x 6 x 4 inch box, ~0.63 lbs from Canada to Missouri, US. The shipping fee quoted by ClickShip / Freightcom are in the thousands.

This would normally only cost ~25CAD. I reached out to Customer Service and this was the response they gave me

"For the calculation of Duties & Taxes, we work with a third-party provider. We reached out to them to better understand the applicable charges and were informed that the new tariffs will take effect on August 19, 2026, at 12:00 AM.

As a result, shipments being booked today or tomorrow that are expected to cross the border on or after August 19 will have the new tariff rates reflected in the Duties & Taxes calculation"

Is this happening to anyone else? I'm not sure how the 50% tarrif would translate to this.
