Looking for advice to be the best professor (or candidate)
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on how to best spend my time to prepare for the next year to be a college professor. I want to prepare myself as much as I can because I don't have much experience in the field except for being an instructor in the military and I don't necessarily want that to be my only way to teach.
I'm at a lucky spot in my life that I have some time for volunteering or getting a part-time job.
I have my BA in Communication Studies with a minor in Professional Writing and Rhetoric and planning to start an MA in Communication Studies in the fall.
What kinds of volunteer roles or positions should I be looking for? Are there any clubs/organizations that look good to future employers or that could prepare me for future teaching at a collegiate level?
I spent four years in the Air Force as an Emergency Manager and then moved on to a federal lab to take environmental samples for six years. I'm ready for a career I have an interest in and want to put my energy towards something that matters.
My first stop is my local library to see what resources that they have available, but I'd love to hear any suggestions you can give.
