KCL MSc Organisational Psychology — career prep advice?

Joining KCL in Sept 2026 for MSc Organisational Psychology & Psychiatry — what should I genuinely learn BEFORE moving to London to improve internship/job chances?

I’m interested in:

  • organisational psychology
  • consulting
  • mental health/counselling
  • behavioural science
  • business psychology

I have around 3 months before moving and I really don’t want to waste that time. For people already studying/working in these fields:

  • what skills actually helped you get internships, part-time roles, or jobs?
  • which certifications/courses were genuinely useful and not just for CV decoration?
  • what tools/software should I know beforehand?
  • what’s the pay and career scope realistically like in the UK for these paths?
  • anything you wish you learned earlier?

Would really appreciate practical advice instead of generic “just network” answers 😭

Thank you!

KCL international student advice reddit

International student joining KCL (MSc Organisational Psychology & Psychiatry) in Sept 2026 trying to decide accommodation and would really appreciate honest advice from current/past students.

A few specific questions:

  • Which KCL accommodation is best for waterloo campus?
  • Which accommodation looks good online but is disappointing in real life?
  • Are shared kitchens usually difficult for vegetarians?
  • Which accommodations have the best balance between:
  • social life
  • privacy
  • cleanliness
  • convenience
  • Any accommodations you would completely avoid and why?
  • What monthly budget should I ACTUALLY expect as an international student in London beyond tuition/rent?

Would really appreciate practical or brutally honest advice. Thank you!
