Seeking advice on upgrade choice
Hi everyone,
I'm seeking advice on upgrading my piano setup to either a better digital or an acoustic and I'm feeling a bit lost.
I’ve been playing for 5 years on a Yamaha P45. Since last year, three keys feel off, and I’ve been struggling with dynamics my teacher wants me to develop. I also feel that transitioning to her acoustic Yamaha P121 during lessons is increasingly difficult.
At a dealership, I tested Yamaha B1/B2/B3 (whose sound I didn't like), P121, and U1. The P121 and U1 appealed to me, but P121 is discontinued. The U1 Silent costs €15,500. Most digitals I tried after that felt underwhelming except the NUX at €6k. The dealership close by doesn't sell Kawaii.
My dilemma is that €15k feels excessive for a hobby, and I likely won't ever become a virtuoso. Yet I'm frustrated with my P45. My teacher strongly recommends an acoustic and at least a P121.
Would a higher-end digital (like CLP-845) meaningfully help my progress, or am I just delaying the inevitable acoustic purchase?
Is €15k for a U1 Silent overkill for a hobbyist player?
Noise and space aren't issues, and I can afford it—but I'm hesitant. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
