How do you decide where to rent GPUs?

A coworker uses HyperAI, says its cheap and reliable. I'm on RunPod now which works fine but at 99 cents an hour vs 35 cents for the same 5090 the gap adds up fast when you're doing a lot of runs.

Local is still king if you run stuff 24/7, the economics on owning hardware overwhelmingly win there. But most of us arent running around the clock. I do maybe 15-20 hours a month and at that level the rental math just makes more sense than buying a card that sits idle most of the time.

Thinking about switching since my coworker hasn't had issues with it. The big cloud platforms are way too expensive for this kind of usage anyway
