Maddy's True Significance?
I'm certain that Maddy's character is much more significant to Laura's story than is commonly believed.
I've noticed a couple of very compelling things that I haven't seen discussed anywhere.
If they have, and I've missed them, I apologize.
Here are my observations and questions:
- Maddy tells Donna that Laura used to borrow her clothes.
- When Donna borrows Maddy's sunglasses, she turns into a completely different, highly-sexualized person.
- James makes a point of mentioning that when she (Donna) visited him in jail, she wanted to have s*x in front of everyone.
- When James tells Maddy about the encounter, she has a guilty look on her face and stares at the floor, as if she had something to do with it.
- In FWWM, Laura freaks out at Donna for wearing her clothes, (during a s*xual encounter) and tells her to never do it again..
Were the clothes that Laura wore during her encounters Maddy's?
Did they have some power over her - just like her sunglasses did when Donna wore them?
Since Laura loved Donna, it would explain why she freaked out over her wearing "her" clothes.
If there's nothing to this, why were the sunglasses made to have an admitted, observable power over Donna?
I'd love to hear all your thoughts. 🤓
