Honestly, I didn't really play any Danganronpa game. Nor official, nor fangame. But I did watch them and saw the plot and all.

And I can safely say that I was also disappointed when in D2, none of the Twilight Sindrome game girls survived; just Fuyihiko, who was GUY F. And, honestly, if in this new game there's something bound to change, I'm hoping that would be one of the new plots.

Plus, now that I think about it, there is something that might happen. In Danganronpa, the protagonists had been many different things:

• A regular survivor (Makoto Naegi, Shuichi Saihara)
• The game's Mastermind (Hajime Hinata)
• A case's Killer (Kaede Akamatsu)

But it never became a victim! So, maybe, on this alternate timeline, Hajime gets killed by someone, then we're forced onto someone else's shoes.

(As a reminder of my predictions, my original idea is to have Mikan, Hyoko, Mahiru, Peko, Hajime and Nekomaru survive, but maybe I was dead wrong)

My guess is that it will be one of these three: Mahiru, Nagito or Chiaki

1. Mahiru Koizumi has what it takes to become a protagonist, plus, I expect her to have a major role this time around. Also, I'm interested to see her have nice interactions with Hyoko, I think it will be cute to play a minigame where we help her tie her kimono sash properly. 🥹
2. As for Nagi and Chiaki, It's a rather plain and simple reason: They both have the line: それは間違っています (No, that's wrong)

You read the title. You know what this post is about. My danganronpa 2X2 alternate story predictions.

• Victim 1: Teruteru Hanamura.
• Blackened 1: Nagito Komaeda.

In the original story, Teruteru only killed Byakuya because Nagito told him he was going to kill someone, and he tried to prevent it. Maybe, in this alternate timeline, Nagito doesn't say anything and, in the middle of the blackout, he goes to kill Teruteru while playing it off. It's sad to see a fan favorite go this early on, but it is what it is. I do think this will be the outcome since Nagito is so eager to begin the killing game in the begining.

• Victim 2: Fuyihiko Kuzuryu
• Blackened 2: Akane Owari

Akane was meant to have an antagonizing role during D2's development, but she ended up becoming a survivor in the original story and the killer this time after understanding the objective of this game. I do see Peko having a mental breakdown after Fuyihiko's body reveal, for Nekomaru trying to comfort her, just for him to fall into despair after seeing Akane get executed before his very eyes (like Taka with Mondo), just for Peko to return the consent. Most of the cast should have their character development starting this time around.

• Victims 3 & 4: Kazuichi Soda and Gundam Tanaka.
• Blackened 3: Kazuichi Soda.

Sonia makes for a perfect killer, yet they made her a survivor in the original. Since Kazuichi is so head over heels for Sonia, I do think his jealousy would make him try and set up a trap to murder Gundam, but after Kazuichi finishes setting it up, Sonia spots him and, tired from his pervy personality around her, she snaps at him, stabbing him in the abdomen. Gundam might spot her on the act, but he tries to hide it like Peko in the original, however, I also see him sensing Kazuichi's trap, and tries to save Sonia as she walks right into it, sacrificing himself and dying instantly. Kazuichi might leave a dying message as he bleeds to death saying that Sonia did it, however, since Gundam died first, and the second murder does not count, this trial's culprit turns out to be Kazuichi. And yes, this means the four Devas of Destruction will stay with Sonia from now on (which I think would look adorable).

• Victim 5: Ultimate imposter.
• Blackened 4: Ibuki Mioda

I imagine Monokuma being distracted in an argument with Monomi to come up with a reasonable motive to this chapter. But, I do imagine Ibuki seeing that this Byakuya is an impostor and the plausible mastermind of the killing game, so, in a desperate action to end the game, she kills the Ultimate Impostor, thinking that the game would end the moment the mastermind's dead, similar to how Kaede tried to end the game by killing Rantaro Amami.

• Victim 6: Chiaki Nanami
• Blackened 5: Sonia Nevermind

Since Chiaki is an AI and all of that, it shouldn't be so sad. But I do imagine Sonia walk around with Chiaki when she suddenly starts glitching because Junko is being a bitch with her AI, attacking Sonia and the four Devas of Destruction, which results in the former grabbing the nearest blunt object and hitting her in an act of self-defense, killing her on accident. Sonia, not too far within the trial admits that she killed Chiaki and starts having a heavy mental breakdown that concerns everyone. They all try to comfort her to calm down for the next couple of minutes, hearing her loathe herself, saying that she killed Kazuichi and now Chiaki aswell, and not until she had calmed down does she hand Monomi all four of Gundam's hamsters and takes her punishment with the serenity of a princess that she is.

• Survivors and reason:

1. Hajime Hinata: Hajime, as the game's mastermind and the vessel of Izuru Kamukura, the game's mastermind, it's expected that he reaches far.
2. Peko Pekoyama: I visualize some sort of roleswap between her and her master, where, sometime before being killed, Fuyihiko asks Peko to take after the business on his behalf instead.
3. Nekomaru Nidai: I see him getting as far as he could this time around, since all what happened in the original, like his death, was a bit of bullshit, mainly due to the fact that bro died twice.
4. Mahiru Koizumi: Despite becoming the second victim of the original game, Mahiru played an important role for a specific character, and thus is the reason why the next entry made it this far too.
5. Hyoko Saionji: Indeed. Hyoko deserves to reach this far. Not only was her best friend killed, BUT she was also stolen from getting character development because of the most bullshit, illogical and senseless motive to ever exist: the Despair desease.
6. Mikan Tsumiki: She is the only reason I actually find Hyoko hilarious. I do see her getting some character development along that bratty midget. Sure, she might seem more adequate as a victim, but wouldn't you agree that it would be wholesome seeing her reach this far?
