Epic Marathon Green Bay WI

Wow this run sucked worse than I can even put into words and completely ruined my first marathon experience. It was raining for the entirety of the race. I was cooking at a pretty good pace with an estimated finish of 04:08:30 for the first 13 miles and I was feeling pretty confident in a sub 4:15. The rain was relentless, but manageable, until about mile 19. Then it started torrentially down-pouring so hard you could barely see and you’re just getting pelted relentlessly with freezing rain and wind. The streets were flooding so for the last 6ish miles of my run I was running with puddles in my shoes. I was so overwhelmed with the weather I was forgetting to fuel because all I could focus on was how wet and freezing cold I was. I slowly watched my dreams of a sub 4:15 go down the drain and ended up with a finish time of 4:19. As i crossed that finish line, they actually ended up cancelling the race and pulling runners off the course due to lightning and rain and it was crushing for so many participants. Not the day you want to see, but I am officially a marathoner and I don’t know if I can do it again after that experience.
