I (17 F) live with my parents. I have seen them arguing everytime because he never stays at home and is an alcoholic and in 2019 my dad left us after leaving a huge loan of amount of 20 lakh on my mother, my mother is financially independent like my father so it took a bit of time but she paid it after selling her gold. My dad came back after a few months since no one was giving him any job and he went broke.
Everyone in my family said my mom to divorce him but she didn't and after that he took a huge loan every year and sometimes doesn't give the money for home, he stays out every weekend to have alcohol and maybe he also hires women. This time he did took a loan again and tried to dump it on my mother again.
I have tried to talk my mother about divorce but she's afraid of society judgements also two women living alone but my dad just says okay for divorce. It's kinda irritating and sad how I see their hate for eachother everyday while they still live with eachother.
