I can't find THE perfect Cargo bike for me and my daughter (10 years)

Hello !

I’m reaching out because I’m honestly stuck in my research and could really use a hand from this awesome community.

I currently ride a Decathlon Elops R500e longtail for my daily commute with my daughter. The bike has over 10,000 km on the odometer, and it has been a good servant, but it’s reaching its limits for us. My main issue is power and torque. I weigh 90 kg, and when you add my daughter and our gear, the total weight is up there. Whenever we hit a slight incline or need a strong start from a dead stop, the R500e feels sluggish and completely suffocated.

I really want to upgrade to a Fat-Cargo (with 20 x 4.0 fat tires). I feel like the fat tires will turn our daily utility commute into a super fun, stable, and smooth experience for her—like a little "couch on wheels".

The Cyrusher Glider caught my eye because on paper, it looks perfect: a compact longtail step-through frame, a high-torque motor (80 Nm to 95 Nm) to crush hills, and a native ecosystem of flat running boards.

However, a couple of things are holding me back, and that's why I need your help to find the right match. Here are my absolute dealbreakers:

  1. Total Payload: The bike needs to safely handle at least 180 kg (400 lbs) minimum total capacity, given my weight (90 kg) plus my daughter and our bags.
  2. Passenger Comfort (Running Boards): Proper, flat running boards / footrests are Essential for me. Simple motorcycle-style footpegs are a total no-go for our 40-minute daily round trip. My daughter needs a solid, wide platform to rest her feet comfortably without tiring out her legs.
  3. Battery Capacity: The Glider has an 811 Wh battery, which is close to my current Decathlon. Since my current battery drops to around 43% after our daily trip (granted, it has 10k km of wear), I'm worried a single 811 Wh battery on a much heavier Fat-Cargo will leave us with zero breathing room in the long run. I'd love something with a larger capacity or dual-battery options. (And Gliders battery is way too expensive, for no reason)
  4. Budget: $2,000 maximum. This unfortunately rules out cool heavyweights like the Tern Orox.

So far, my short list is tiny and I feel like I'm running out of options:

  • Cyrusher Glider: Great frame and footprint, but worried about the single battery capacity over time.
  • Velotric GoMad: Solid 85 Nm torque, 226 kg capacity, and they have an official passenger kit with real flat running boards. But I'm still looking around to see what else exists.
  • G-Force RS ST / Aventon Aventure.2: Tons of power and weight capacity, but they mostly rely on footpegs or require sketchy universal aftermarket mods for flat footrests.

I've been staring at spreadsheets for weeks and my brain is fried, so if anyone has other bike suggestions, hidden gems, or even advice on how you set up your own Fat-Cargo for a daily school/work run, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thanks for your help guys ! Hope that I will find something ! 😃
