Using the FX2 mostly in S35 mode — does it make sense?

Hi all,

I'm considering buying the Sony FX2 mainly for documentary work, but I’m still unsure because of the rolling shutter in full-frame modes.

My idea would be to use it mostly as a Super35 camera for handheld / run-and-gun shooting (to reduce rolling shutter issues), paired with an APS-C zoom for documentary work, and then occasionally switch to full-frame vintage lenses for more static or slower-moving shots where rolling shutter is less problematic.

I shoot mostly handheld documentaries in 4K25p. I don't use autofocus much, so image rendering, rolling shutter behavior, stabilization, and overall shooting feel matter more to me than AF performance.

Does it make sense to think of it primarily as an S35 cinema camera with a “bonus” full-frame mode?

How usable is it handheld in S35 mode for documentary work?

And compared to something like the FX30 or GH7, does the FX2 actually bring something special in terms of image character or flexibility?

Thanks!
