5G problems
Hi people! Im curious and wanna ask if is it normal for my signal to behave like this??? What i mean is that when i choose "prefer 5G connection" for mobile data it starts off connected to 5G then goes back to LTE and then flat out loses signal and then restarts the cycle over and over and over and over again.. I live here in the philippines and i assumed that maybe 5G isnt all that available yet but when my friends and classmates show me that they can connect to 5G in with the same SIM provider as i use i get confused since they are somehow able to get a stable 5G connection without the cycle happening (5G -> LTE -> Lose signal completely -> restart cycle). Ive even checked the coverage area in my kind of small city and it shows that the entire main area that i live in is covered in 5G so i've just been confused for months.. Ever since i took ownership of this S22U i couldnt and still cant use 5G without it disconnecting and just use LTE instead. I even tried out a theory if maybe 5G is stronger in bigger cities like in Cebu and even there in the metro area 5G kept losing it. I also wonder if the age of my sim card has anything to do with this problem but its unlikely since i got it around 2020ish..
Right now i tried the same thing before making this post and atm it isnt losing signal it just stays at LTE even if its set to "5G preferred"
Edit: After doing research with help of Gemini. Turns out my S22U is a canadian regional import and my s22 is basically isolated from the N78 band that is widely used for 5G. Samsung physically disabled N78 antenna configurations when the phones were being manufactured in North America to apparently save on licensing. The problem is the phone is supposed to be living in Canada right now since it is meant for N66, N71, N77 5G bands but those doesnt exist here in the PH since N78 is the most heavily used 5G frequency band here. All in all my S22U is basically blind to N78 but compatible with 4G LTE and pretty much acts like an ant of the same species but in a different colony.
(Oh yeah my area DOES have N41 5G bands but since my phone is canadian the tower basically rejects my phone and just kicks me out after connecting to 5G for a few seconds. Cell tower pretty much hates migrants i guess lol)
