China vs South Korea
I recently received two admission offers.
- Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), which is 86th in the QS ranking and 4th in Korea. My major is Chemical Engineering. So I managed to get the Sungkyun Samsung Scholarship Type B, which is the 100% scholarship that fully covers tuition costs. Additionally, with that scholarship that is sponsored by the Samsung company, I guess there are really high chances to get into the company's internships and later to work there.
2)Tsinghua University, which is 12th globally and 1st in Asia/China. Same major and a full tuition scholarship.
My main question is which to choose, both are incredible universities, well-developed in engineering. But SKKU seems more practical for me, as I tend to stay in a foreign country and work there. I've heard that China has severe issues with employment after graduation from a bachelor's degree, and even a prestigious university may not help me to stay there legally for work. While it's much easier to get a working visa in Korea and with the scholarship that I have received, it will not be a big deal to get promoted into the Samsung company.
On the other hand, Tsinghua is better than SKKU in both overall engineering courses and especially in Chemical engineering ranking.
So is it worth it to make a decision toward the better-ranked university, or choose the one that has more guarantees in future employment?
