Hey everyone, recently bought my first place and it's a bit older and wanted to do some renovations. Started removing stuff but recently got elected to my condo board and found out there is asbestos which has thrown a wrench in my reno plans. Got things tested and yes there is asbestos in some places and not in others (due to renos/repairs done by previous owners I assume). I got some quotes for remediation but that is just outrageously expensive (anywhere between 4k-15k for not even a whole room). I'm wondering cause I see other owners in my complex just gutting everything without a worry and seems like I'm the only one worried about this. I bought a n100 respirator, and have experience working in refrigeration on how to wear a respirator and decontamination practices. How worried should I be? I'm about this close to just ripping the stuff down myself with my respirator and bunny suit on. But don't want to be stupid about it and getting a straight answer on the actual risk is difficult. Help? Advice? Answers?
