Private Loans
Hi everyone! I know this has been a huge topic of discussion here lately. I’ve been crunching numbers and spiraling trying to figure out how I will afford CRNA school. I’m applying this summer and initially I was just worried about getting accepted. Now I’m wondering if it will even be worth it to invest time and money in the application process if I can’t afford school.
Federal loans will barely cover my yearly tuition. I have nothing saved because I’m trying to pay off my credit cards and car loan before school starts. I still owe 20k+ on my car so most likely will only have 10k left by next summer if I pick up overtime. My credit score is not great around 680, I’m hoping when I pay off my cards it’ll come back up over 700. My parents also don’t make much & I don’t know how their credit is to co-sign for me.
I have no kids and my husband works but he doesn’t make much and wouldn’t be able to afford everything on his own. Also, the location of the school is very rural with limited job opportunities for him. I’ll need around $15k/year in private loans to fill the gap and scrape by—assuming my husband will be able to find a job that matches his current pay. The schools I am applying to are front loaded do not allow students to work. Should I even bother?
