(Secondary, inclusion) Educating staff about how special education works

Our school has about 10% of students on IEPs. The vast majority are specific learning disability SLD, very low needs. These students receive their support services in the general Ed setting. A handful are autistic ASD and have safety plants and PBIPs. They receive some services in Gen Ed and others in one self-contained class. We have 2 special education teachers for our whole campus. (Also a part time school psychologist and 2 school counselors.)

I would love your tips on how to educate our faculty *without alienating our dept* about what inclusion means, what our priorities are (things like: safety and regulation >> academic accuracy; serving goals >> general curriculum catch up).

And regarding behavioral regulation in particular—I find that no amount of reminders in person or in writing seems to get people to understand that they need to back off during a meltdown, without them taking it personally!

Is this a dedicated training the district should do during preplanning, or would people roll their eyes at what they perceive is a waste of time?

Balancing the training/education part with them being our peers is very delicate. All input is welcome!
