High cholesterol. 31 years old Male. Game plan?
Wanted to share my recent blood work results and get some feedback on my gameplan.
Long story short I’ve always been relatively active and healthy. But never been one to go get physicals / blood work done. I do not have health insurance for one. Last physical I had was 4 years ago and had similar cholesterol numbers. Doctor at the time said they “weren’t concerning” and “to just keep exercising.
Just had some bloodwork done and cholesterol came back high again. Based off the triglycerides and HDL being in normal range, I believe this typically points to hereditary high cholesterol?
I am going on a very strict low sat fat diet for the foreseeable future.
How long should I wait until I retest lipids? Any other tests I should add when I go back? I was planning on dieting for 3 months and seeing what results are.
I have added some supplements to my daily routine.
Been taking for years:
- Men’s one a day multivitamin
- shilajit
- organic mushroom complex
- ashwagandha w/ ksm 66
- magnesium glycinate
- milk thistle
- creatine mono
Recently added:
- plant sterols
- berberine
- psyllium husk fiber
(Hesitant to start Red yeast rice - would like to see what results my diet / supplementation will yield first?)
If there is minimal to no improvement over course of 3-4 months I am assuming I have no choice but to look into RYR or Statin drug.
Thanks all!
