I recently picked up an instinct 3, and among other things I want to enable the following workflow:

• Import a gpx file from a third party tool or website into the garmin ecosystem.
• Add coursepoints to the trail that the instinct 3 will recognise (up ahead screen and similar)
• Sync the course to the instinct 3, which I will use for basic trail navigation.
• Be able to use the garmin explore mobile app (showing current position and the trail I'm navigating) for when I need more detailed map information.

From what I have seen and tested, all of the above should be achievable, but I am still confused about the differences and interactions between the garmin connect app and the garmin explore app.

There also seems to be reports that loading long gpx files to the watch via garmin explore doesn't work due to trackpoint limitations - They get truncated or you lose resolution when navigating.

Do you really get different results when pushing the same course to the watch from the two different apps? This is annoying if that's the case, as ideally I would like to do everything I need in a single app.
