Mahabir Pun is unfit to be a minister

Recently the government added a new ministry: Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation. It appears that the ministry was added in response to Mahabir Pun’s criticism that this year’s Policies and Programs disregarded innovation. With that, there are speculations that Mahabir Pun might be offered the ministry. This might be not anything more than speculation but I couldn’t help but think that Mahabir Pun is unfit to be a minister. That said, I also think that most other ministers (including the Law Minister who has done very little to no legal practice, the education minister whose only claim to experience is his “advisory” role in KMC) are unfit. The government has generally chosen ministers with poor leadership abilities and little subject expertise. This might be because Balen thinks most ministers are rubber stamps and ultimate decision lies with him, so weaker ministers make him stronger. Mahabir Pun’s case is similar. I admit that he has done good work in the past, but it doesn’t make him a leader fit to run a ministry. We have already seen that he’s whimsical and abandons post when faced with hurdles. It’s easy to blame bureaucracy. It’s another thing to be a leader and push forward your vision. We need serious people to be ministers who can bridge gaps and actually convince people of their vision.
Note: Do not bother commenting saying the tired bullshit like “oh so you think the old ones were better?”. That the old ones were shit isnt an excuse for this poor leadership, or complete lack thereof.
