Do Japanese families talk in the evening after dinner?

I have a Japanese friend staying at my house. It is her first day here. My mum and I spent the whole day with her. 1hr 30mins at lunch, 2 hours at the bank and in town, 2 hours at dinner.

At 7pm she said she wants to have a conversation and to talk to someone. She had a vibe like this conversation was somehow different to everything we had already discussed in the day. It was the same, just talking about mundane things.

Is this a normal time in the evening for Japanese people to talk? Do people from Japan prefer to talk in the evening as a way to destress and transition into nighttime mode?

I want to be prepared in case this is something she wants to do regularly and is normal in Japanese culture

My grandpa is going to gift my Japanese friend ¥50,000. I am worried

I am worried about the social implications it may have. My friend is 22 and coming to Australia for a working holiday. She has stayed with us before. We have told her she does not need to pay rent which she already feels bad about.

My grandpa has made a gift box for her, in that box is $500 aud (¥50,000). My grandpa and my friend are not close. He has met her but they have never really talked. He is not handing her the box, he has asked me to give it to her on his behalf.

I am worried about how it will make her feel. Should I warn her before she opens it? What can I tell him to stop him from wanting to give it to her? Like, maybe I can explain how that type of money would make a Japanese person feel.

(Disclaimer- He is not being a creep, he hands out money to many strangers)

Do people normally wipe with their dominant hand?

Sorry bidet users, this question isn’t quite for you.

My dominant hand is right. I always wipe with my left. Any time I use my dominant hand it feels awkward and shaky like I don’t know what i’m doing.

That feeling when you write with your non dominant hand, is the feeling I get when I wipe with my dominant hand. I use my right hand for everything but when it comes to wiping it has to be my left.

I’m wondering if this is standard or just a me thing

Looking for anime’s that have guys with black hair and glasses

He doesn’t have to be a main character. I’ve recently unlocked a new type and I really want to see more anime’s with characters like this. Bonus points if they’re buff or it’s their goal to start working out!

Ones I liked:

Shori - kyo kara maoh

Tsuge - cherry magic

Rintaro - tamon’s b side

Seiichirou - isekai office worker

Others I know about:

Okarun - dandadan

Sakamoto - Sakamoto desu ga (haven’t you heard i’m Sakamoto?)

Saiki - Saiki K (i know he doesn’t have black hair but I think he deserves an honourable mention)
