Ross vs. Joey

Ross:

kind of ditzy

too into her looks

spoiled

just a waitress

Joey:

She made me switch to light mayo.

I've never been a fan of the Rachel and Joey, nor do I support Ross and Rachel ending up together. But the difference between the list they made made me smile. I think it's a very sweet detail. Joey really loved Rachel.

Some viewers say Ross loved the idea of Rachel and Joey loved Rachel.

What do you think about this?

Edit: Despite having stated that I am impartial on this matter, I could not understand why I —rather than the views I expressed— was the one being criticized lmao

The Children Issue Wasn't Monica and Richard's Only Problem

I don't know if this topic has been discussed before.

I think Monica and Richard's relationship is being overly idealized. Because we don't see them going through the difficult stages of a long-term relationship. They go through the honeymoon phase and the relationship ends before it is tested enough. I think that's why their breakup was so devastating.

Many people claim that the only thing that separated Monica and Richard was the issue of children. I disagree. To me, the disagreement about having children wasn't the problem itself; It was a sign of deeper disharmony.

They were at very different stages of life. No matter how mature Monica was, there was still a significant difference in life experience between them. Richard was already a settled man; Rather than building a future alongside him, Monica was stepping into a future that had already been built.

From a character development perspective, I think Monica needs someone who grows with her, who she can discuss as an equal when a problem arises, and with whom she can navigate life's important milestones. Such a relationship feels much more transformative than a relationship with someone who has come a long way in your life.

So if Monica's relationship with Chandler had never happened; I would have preferred the writers not to reunite her with Richard but to introduce a completely new character. I never bought into the idea that Richard was perfect for Monica.

Do I need to mention how bad it was that he witnessed her childhood? edit: It was strange how they overlooked this detail so easily.

One of the deleted scenes

Look how questioning Ross looks and how uneasy Joey looks after Monica's joke. There is a cut scene in between.

Phoebe says - because of Monica's joking - that Monica has been starting to look like Chandler lately. Then Monica and Chandler say at the same time, "That is so not true." they replies.

Since this part was deleted, Ross and Joey's reaction feels meaningless.

Edit: I mentioned it as a deleted scene but I think I'm wrong. It was probably cut just to avoid lengthening the duration and is now only available on DVD.
