USSS timeline and speed lining hiring?

I don’t know if this is standard with USSS so I wanted to ask, I applied to the May posting for USSS 1811 position. Received the invitation email yesterday to submit documents to begin first phase of hiring.

I have not had experience with other agencies doing the same. For example applied to all posting 6 months ago where I’m still waiting on a email for the PTT scheduling.

Homeland Defender (Immigration Services Officer) timeline?

Has hiring for ICE been frozen? I applied beginning of May, someone told me I was supposed to get a email the week after applying with a tentative offer since their mass hiring. I haven’t heard any communication, wondering how long process takes, sorry I have never worked or applied to the Fed so I’m used to the private sector process of hiring.

Can you break into this field with an education in GIS?

Recently discovered GIS after taking a Geography course. I’ve always been interested in Surveying but I didn’t have a university near me that taught civil engineering. Considering doing a masters in Geography or GIS not sure yet but I really wanna find out and hear from those in the field how they got into it and what qualified them

I went to university for a forensic science program originally, switched majors due to low job availability in my region for lab technicians and forensic techs. Wondering if applying to PSP allows an applicant to opt to eventually transition into the forensics side?

I applied for an internship at a location that was closer to me because it was available only to find out they’re no longer hiring in the region. So they decide to offer an office cross country with no relocation expenses and I have days to make a decision. Do these agency heads think people have $30K sitting around to move around the country and make an immediate decision to live there? With what money?
