Pen needle quality issue
First time post here.
I'm a type 1 (44m) diagnosed at 9yo. Use pens.
My GP surgery and attached pharmacy have changed the brand of needles they supply, from Embecta microfine ultra (which I've been using for decades without issue) to GlucoRX CarePoint. The new needles are slightly thinner, which should reduce bleeds- but so far they produce bleeding with almost every use. In addition they don't seem to fit as easily onto the pens I use, screwing them on feels awkward, as if they're not quite the correct size. They did attempt to switch me to the GlucoRX brand around 7-8 years ago- at that time those needles weren't supplied with caps which made them nigh-on impossible to use outside the home. At least then when I objected to my GP Practice they agreed to go back to the Embecta (which were branded as B-D at the time). These new GlucoRx needles do now have caps, but they feel flimsy and poor quality, and as stated they cause bleeds with almost every use.
Has anyone else experienced their medical services switching out brands? Have they been open to reverting to the previous products? The pharmacist claims the Embecta needles have been discontinued, which I frankly don't believe - I suspect they're just trying to reduce costs and it's a case of "screw the patient".
What are my options moving forward? Who do I speak to to report the issues I'm having? Should I switch to a different pharmacy? A different surgery? Both of those are easy options but I don't want to do it if I'm going to encounter the same issue a few weeks down the line. I can't really afford to go private, but I feel like that might be my only option short of getting on the waiting list for a pump (which ironically will currently only be offered if my level of control deteriorates).
