Laugavegur Trail schedule
Hi!
I need a little bit of help with scheduling my trip, and I'd hoped some of you might have some great advice. We visited Iceland back in 2022, and this time we want to do things we didn't have time for the first time around.
We are arriving on the 25th of August at 9 am, and since it will be quite late in the season, we want to do the Laugavegur trail as soon as possible. We want to do it in three days, as we've read that you should do Landmannalaugar - Álftavatn in one go, as sleeping in Hrafntinnusker can get quite cold and windy, especially at the end of August. So that would mean:
day: Landmannalaugar - Álftavatn
day: Álftavatn - Emstrur
day: Emstrur - Þórsmörk and then back to Reykjavík
My issue is that
Since it's the end of the season, Highland buses only run once at 7 am
We cannot catch it on the first day (25th) because we arrive at 9 am, so we kind of lose on that day
The next day, we can catch the bus, but since it arrives quite late at 12:30, we cannot start the hike and have to wait another day to start it.
My question is: what would you advice we do in these open slots? Should we do a smaller hike when we arrive on the 26th at Landmannalaugar? Is there another way we can go to Landmannalaugar on the 25th?
