Built a free panchang site for my self — ended up opening it to everyone (ashtadha.com)
I’m not a pandit or a jyotish — just someone who got tired of opening three different panchang sites cluttered with ads, overwhelmed with information and still not trusting whether Ekadashi or Diwali was “the right day” for my city.
It started pretty small: I wanted something clean for my own family — today’s tithi, nakshatra, sunrise, the festivals we actually observe. No login wall, no ad maze, no “download our app” popup before you can see Amavasya and simple to read and follow.
That turned into ashtadha.com.
What’s on it now:
- Daily panchang for a bunch of cities (Delhi, Mumbai, London, Bay Area, etc.)
- Festival dates for 2025–2028 — including the annoying edge cases (vriddhi/kshaya tithi stuff that messes up a lot of calendars)
- Lyrics + meanings: Hanuman Chalisa, aartis, Gita chapters, Sundarkand, and more (Hindi + English)
- Grahan timings + Sutak notes when there’s an eclipse coming up
I’m using Swiss Ephemeris for the math — same kind of engine serious jyotish software uses — because I got burned one too many times by copy-pasted festival lists that didn’t match Drik Panchang for my location.
It’s free. I’m not trying to sell anything. I’d genuinely love to know if I got something wrong for your sampradaya/region, or what you’d actually use daily that I haven’t thought of yet.
If you check it: ashtadha.com
Happy to fix things or add stuff if people find it useful. 🙏
