Best public library service recommendations for a Detroiter to save money, May/June 2026
Yesterday I found a post in another sub discussing how folks are currently finding public library services even easier to deal with the rising costs of streaming service subscriptions.
I’m a born/raised/currently living in city of Detroit proper northeast Detroiter. I spent several years living in other states and haven’t used Detroit Public Libraries since I relocated back a few years ago.
I searched this sub before making this post, finding answers from about 6 years ago.
What has been your experience using Detroit Public Libraries to save money and keep up on your preferred entertainment? Do we have quality services like Hoopla and Kanopy? Thanks, y’all.
EDIT: I did learn DPL does have access to both Hoopla and Kanopy. Will still be interested in hearing if folks find them useful enough to save significantly as a newbie myself.
