Shot skeet for the first time

I have 3 shotguns I just inherited. 2 pump action and a Bellini Super Vinci. I shot 30 shots Sunday just 12 ga #8 but shoulders sore. Is a skeet vest with some padding typically enough? I had an awesome time and intend to go back this weekend.

edit: thanks for all the comments. I forget now what I had bought for shells. 2 3/4 length is all I remember ATM I'm at work. i think the issue is mostly all the gun properly against the shoulder. i had a good coach who's been doing it for at least 30 years. But I was so focused on the shooting strategy with the dual bunkers, and the semicircle positioning that I think I wasn't thinking anymore about how I was holding the gun. what an absolute blast though, pun intended.
