New Moon - June 15

Hi! We’ll be staying near Apgar/West Glacier around June 14–16, right around the new moon, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to experience the night sky with my daughters.

I know Glacier sometimes has ranger-led astronomy/stargazing programs — has anyone attended one in mid-June before? Were they running nightly by then? Was it telescope-based, ranger talk based, or more informal?

Also open to recommendations for:

  • local astronomy guides or programs
  • tips for helping kids actually understand what they’re looking at in the sky 🙂

This is part of a big summer road trip for us, and I’d love to make the Milky Way/new moon experience really memorable. Thanks!
