Diabetic retinopathy
Ok I'm 45 yr old female t2 diabetic. So I didn't take very good care of myself for years with my diabetes but exactly a yr ago this week after finding out my blood sugar was 420 and getting neuropathy in my feet( not to bad but it's there) have been taking care of myself. Taking my meds, watching everything I eat and I mean I am a strict eater. I don't eat any sugar and am on very low carb diet so I noticed a couple months ago I got a little blurriness in my eyes and was really thinking it was my age and perimenopause so I went to the eye Dr last week ....and got diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy my sugars now run about 120-160 at the highest. I just want to know some people with good retinopathy stories of living life with this. I guess I'm just terribly scared of course of blindness and need some reassurance ..Dr said I probably have had it like a year already and right now we are just monitoring it but I feel like should I go ahead and get a retina specialist. Also he said it's definitely not the worst he called it moderate. Thanks in advance
