Why the Simien Mountains are Africa’s most underrated trekking destination

After guiding many travelers in Ethiopia, I still believe the Simien Mountains are one of the most underrated trekking destinations in the world.

You can experience:

huge mountain cliffs

wildlife found nowhere else

real camping experiences

local culture

fewer tourists than Kilimanjaro or Nepal

Most travelers are surprised by how beautiful and peaceful the mountains are.

If anyone is planning a trip to Ethiopia, I’m happy to share trekking advice and route suggestions.

Morning on Lake Hawassa.

While most of the city is still asleep, fishermen are already out on the water chasing the day’s first catch. Quiet waves. Cold air. Birds overhead. A different side of Hawassa that never makes enough noise online.

Drop your favorite memory from Lake Hawassa below. Photos, stories, random moments, anything.
