My take and help with GD

I wanted to jump on here and share some things that have worked for me throughout this journey.

First of all, I cut out allllll processed sugar and have leaned on more natural alternatives. READ LABELS and make sure it says “0% added sugar” on the nutrition facts. I use Xylitol to bake with if I’m hard up for sweets (muffins, cakes, etc.) Just be careful if you have fur babies, it’s toxic to them. I’ve made whipped cream “frosting” with agave nectar and added cocoa and chocolate protein powder. It’s sooooo good. (Message me for the recipe if you want it). I’m also using Agave for sweetening my oatmeal, peanut butter, and damn near anything else. I’m also using sugar free coffee syrups that you can find cheap at places like Ross and Marshall’s. I’ve also found some super yummy sugar free cookies at Publix. They are labeled “Sugar Free Chip Flavored Chocolate Cookies”. These are a LAST resort and I typically pair them with a chocolate protein shake.

Secondly, I’m eating a ton of meat and protein shakes. A usual breakfast for me is 3 eggs with shredded cheese, a protein shake and a bagel with cream cheese. This always puts me under 120 for breakfast.

For lunch I’ll eat high protein and high veg. SOMETIMES I’ll have a sandwich or a little carbs but it has to be 2/3 protein. Like, a massive meat sandwich if you’re having a bun. Try to make sure the bread is processed-sugar free.

For dinner I’ll have high protein. High veg and a smalllll carb. Like, lamb/steak/chicken/salmon with a ton of veg to fill me up and a tiny little loaded baked potato. Since sour cream and cheese are a go, I load that bitch up.

All of these keep me under 120 after meals. Now, I’m not perfect and of course I have my “spike days” when I NEED pasta or fast food maybe once a week, but I keep it small and it doesn’t spike over 135 typically.

Fasting is wanted to be under 95 and that’s been a struggle for me. It tends to bounce between 85-105. My OB increased my insulin from 18-20 units and that seemed to help. Along with taking it late at night, usually 9:00pm, and having a high protein snack if I NEED to eat after dinner.

Of course every body is different and what works for me may not work for you but that’s where you have to pay attention to your body and do a little trial and error. I’m a baker by trade, so feel free to reach out with any questions or recipe suggestions that won’t make you feel guilty but will taste like you’re cheating.

Hang in there ladies!! <3
