Found on our front lawn this morning, wasn't there last night. Hole is about the size of my hand. We're in Eastern Massachusetts (five miles outside of Boston).

We have rabbits and squirrels in the neighborhood. Concerned it might belong to a rat since we've seen the occasional dead rat on nearby streets.
