Horrid Racist Vacation Experiences in Spain
I'm not one to write rants but I must air out my frustrations. I just completed my 3 weeks trip in Spain and Portugal and this was hell. Male, 24, Solo.
Spain was a nightmare....At the sight of any Black Person they'd clutch their most likely empty bags and purses like you were going to snatch it!
Spent 1 week in Barcelona and this was horrid....any Black influencer that tells you that Spain was great is a freaking Liar!!!!
Spent 6 days in Seville, 1 in Malaga complete nightmare, the Yt 'mericans seemingly joined in on the action!!! Constant disrespect from the servers at every restaurant....at one of them the servers ignored me for almost 15 mins, eventually one came over and said "you know sitting here is for paid customers right?" To which I responded "If I wasn't a paying customers, I won't be sitting here"....this was followed by a slurry of apologies!
Why do they act like our skin is contaminating??? Especially the younger women!!!
I thought perhaps if I continue to dress really well things will get better....nothing changed!
Portugal was nicer that's for sure, spent only one week, If I'd known I would have stayed 2 weeks instead of Spain!!
For context I planned out this trip 1 year in advanced and even delayed my vacation time into the Fall!!!
Honestly I'd focus on Asia and Africa for future vacations!!!
All in All, Save your Dollars and go where you are given a decent level of Human dignity!!!!
