My first time completion :)

Hi guys. I just finished Dark Souls for the first time ever, and my goodness what a journey it's been. My feelings toward this game are mixed with much praise, and tiny critiques.

I adore this game. I really do. There's just something so magical about that I can't particularly explain, but it's so good. Before I started playing this game I was drawn to it for the challenging fights, but the more I played the more I was entangled and infatuated with the world itself. The visual story telling is so lovely, and the mysteries and questions certain moments invoke is just wonderful. I love the environments, I love the characters, I love so much about this game.

I chose Warrior at the start of the game, my weapon of choice was the Black Knight Sword, though after a while I switched to the Man-Serpent Greatsword since it had better scaling with strength and was more universally useful.

I never used any summons for bosses cuz I felt like it was sorta cheating, and would've taken away from my feelings of victory and completion.

My favorite characters are Nito, Pinwheel, Sif, Artorias, and the one somewhat chunky knight that has a dumpling helmet.

Nito is so badass conceptually and design wise, but he was an incredibly easy fight. I still love him very much though.

Pinwheel I don't know much about, but I love the masks and how weird they are, the encounter was memorable even if the fight was super easy.

Sif and Artorias' story is so sad, the tragedy of it is so good and very touching. And fighting Artorias was so awesome.

The dumpling knight was funny sitting outside Sen's Fortress so I really liked him, even if I could not find him again and forgot his name if I even knew it in the first place.

I don't know what I was quite expecting when starting this game, but I'm so glad I've played it. I still don't have many answers to questions and mysteries regarding lore, but what I've understood I've enjoyed very much and I'm so looking forward to playing the other Souls games.

I can't really put into words how much I love this game, it really is something special. I'll definitely play it again.

I got the "To Link The Fire" ending and was left somewhat confused. Though I believe it is just symbolizing the repeat of the cycle of fire or continuation of life. Since it took all the lord souls to ignite the flame I figure it's likely the world was going to be consumed by darkness if the lords did not give up their souls, I also figure they likely didn't want to give up their souls which is why we have to kill them to ensure the world doesn't end.

I have no idea if this is a "good" ending or not as I still don't think I understand the flame itself. I could be very wrong, as I'm sure I'm missing a lot of context, but it's still fun to think about with the mystery and uncertainty of it.

Now I wonder if I should play Demon's Souls (The Original), or if I should play Dark Souls 2 next.

This fight is very sad

Hi guys. I’m very new to dark souls and doing my first playthrough right now. I’m around 25-30 hours in I believe, and just defeated Sif. And my goodness what a sad moment.

Instantly upon seeing them on top of the grave I just felt bad for having to kill them. I figured this is likely the resting place of their owner, it felt less like a fight and more like a moment of “I’m sorry this has to happen.”

I think despite my lack of understanding of most of this games lore so far, when the environmental story telling hits, it REALLY hits.

I was already a fan of this games atmosphere and combat like an hour into it, but this part is seriously a highlight, it’s not a very difficult fight at all, but the emotional weight still hits harder than a difficult boss ever would.

I just really like this moment and wanted to yap about it. I’m loving this game so much.

I love this game

Hi guys, I love dark souls 1. I am very new to the souls games, I’ve played a teeny tiny bit of Elden ring but had held off for a really long time as I really wanted to play the dark souls trilogy before playing Elden Ring to see what it built off of. And my goodness, this game is great.

The combat is so satisfying when overcoming an enemy or boss you previously had trouble with, the exploration is kinda confusing but I really really like how the world loops back around, I’ve only made it to the depths with the big rats, so I don’t think I’m very far but I’ve played like 8 hours. I chose warrior at the start, so I am going to use the black knight’s sword because it is very cool looking and does very good damage even if it is a little slower than the long sword.

I wish there was a little more exposition but maybe I will understand more things later. Im still just so fascinated with the world of dark souls, and have loved every second of the game, even if I may be playing inefficiently.

I’m very excited to play through all of the Dark Souls games, and will probably look into the other fromsoft games not just Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
