Should I return my car under warranty due to an engine replacement?
I bought a 71 plate Astra through Evans Halshaw on a good deal with only 15k miles on it, full service history. Within the 3 month warranty the car developed a fault, had a "Service ESC" light so I returned for Evans Halshaw to fix.
They've identified "crank shaft excessive movement" which they say can only be fixed by replacing the whole engine.
I've checked and they are fitting a remanufactured engine from Vauxhall. I don't know much about cars - my question is, if you were in this situation would you view this whole thing as a huge red flag and try and get a full refund for the car OR would you feel lucky that it was all spotted within the warranty at no cost to yourself, and keep it?
If they were fitting a brand new engine I would think of this as a positive for me, but I don't know enough about remanufactured engines and how trustworthy they tend to be.
