What’s the appeal of MCs that start OP?
I’ve noticed a trend where a decent amount of new novels will have the MC be overpowered from the get-go (Max level archmage, just add mana, etc).
These novels are popular, so there’s obviously a lot of people that enjoy them and the premise. However, what’s the point of them being litrpg if they start at the pinnacle? Does the enjoyment just come from seeing them be stronger than everyone?
I confess I haven’t read most (started Just Add Mana but lost interest really quickly due to the OP mc and lack of stakes) since the idea is just so antithetical to what I personally enjoy about the genre, so I do apologize if the answer lies in the pages, but I would love to hear perspectives from those who enjoy them!
