You ever just wanted to sit down and cry? DCPS related issues

You ever just wanted to sit down and cry about something because no matter how hard you try, you can’t fix it overnight?

That’s where I’m at right now.

I’ve been struggling trying to navigate the DC school system and get my son properly enrolled in school, and this process has honestly made me feel helpless. Because one of my sons has an IEP, I’m now being put in a position where my children may have to attend three separate schools. My other two children are fine academically, but they can’t attend the same schools together because of how these placements are being handled.

I’ve never felt so helpless in my life before. It feels like it’s me against an entire structure. And even when I try to speak up, ask questions, or file complaints, somehow I end up being looked at like I’m just the “crazy mom” instead of a parent trying to do what’s best for her child.

People really don’t understand how exhausting it is to constantly advocate for your child while feeling like nobody is actually listening
