Life coach vs self-improvement apps: what actually helped my self-sabotage cycle
I spent most of last year thinking I needed a life coach. Not even in a “CEO productivity” way. More like… I was tired all the time, constantly overwhelmed, starting routines and dropping them 3 days later. Felt like I was fighting myself over basic things.
I actually tried a few coaching calls. Some were helpful, but I always left feeling motivated for like 24 hours and then crashed back into the same habits. Also kinda stressful knowing someone is waiting for your “progress update” while you’re lying in bed doomscrolling at 1am.
A few months ago I randomly found Wisey while searching stuff about self-sabotage and focus problems. Expected another motivational app honestly. But it felt less intense than coaching and more realistic for how my brain actually works. What helped me personally:
- tiny daily steps instead of “reinvent your life”
- short lessons I could do half-asleep
- no pressure to perform for another person
- helped me notice patterns instead of just feeling guilty all the time
- surprisingly good when my attention span is cooked
I’m not saying a life coach is useless. I think some people genuinely need human accountability and deep conversations. But if you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in the whole self-sabotage/procrastination cycle, an app was weirdly easier for me to stick with than another person telling me to “unlock my potential” lol. If anyone else here tried Wisey vs a real life coach? Which one actually lasted longer for you?
