Hi all, the campaign I'm currently running has a Mechanist and I'm hoping for some clarification on one of their features - Eyes of the Maker. If I'm reading it correctly it seems to basically identify any magic item the Mechanist chooses to inspect. Have I understood this correctly or have I been doing it wrong for the last couple of months?

Full text of the feature - When you touch a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use it, whether it requires attunement to use, and how many charges it has (if any). You learn whether any spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it.
