So I've been attempting to change career path from robotic installations into becoming an electrician. Spoke to multiple people in real life and on reddit and the gist was get your level 2 then start out doing mate work and work your way up to improver, nvq etc from there. Seemed ok in principle so did level 2 but I've been down to some local sites to drop CVs with no luck, tried looking on indeed but the vast majority of mate roles are previous experience. Labourer jobs seem to be mostly plumbing and I've tried applying for some apprenticeships and a few agencies with no luck as of yet. Question I have is theres lots of work going from first glance but getting that first job where is the place to look in person? online? And what role am I looking for? Because it seems for an industry in dire need of new blood from what I can see there definitely doesn't seem to be much appetite right now to bring it in to the fold.
