BMI requirement for NHS fertility treatment and IVF

I heard that the BMI requirement for NHS funded IVF is <30 and my BMI is now 28-29. Today I have an appointment with my consultant that going to send out the fertility referral, she asked me to lose more weight and mentioned that only BMI <25 would be eligible for NHS funded IVF, the BMI 30 should be for ovulation induction treatment only. I feel so depressed and stressful because of her words. I wonder if this is the NHS latest requirement or her misunderstanding...We are based in Birmingham and she is looking at a referral to the BWH fertility centre.

Is it normal to wait 3.5 months for the sperm test? I am in Birmingham area. Would a GP-led referral be slower than one that referred by hospital consultant?

I had some blood tests and pelvic ultrasound scan last year and found a known infertility related issue. Currently I am on some medications and the endocrinologist could refer me to the NHS fertility clinic as we have tried for a full year without success. However, he said sperm test result of male partner is one of the requirements of sending out the fertility clinic referral but he did not know how to arrange sperm test from their department. So we requested our GP to arrange the sperm test for us. The GP refer my male partner to another hospital for the sperm test and scheduled mid-August.

Due to my condition, the fertility referral can be sent out once the sperm test result ready, feeling frustrated for this to be a blocker and delay our journey for a few months more. Just wonder if any experience/advice related to that and is there any method to speed up the entire process.
