I wanted to like Immich but it is useless if it messes up the metadata and can’t use remote storage reliably.
Rant review. I had to install via docker compose on my desktop because it didn’t work reliably in proxmox using separate ZFS. I know it’s not supported anyway but it should be. The biggest issue is getting the dates wrong. It’s not off by a day, not the known timezone issue. It’s off by years, randomly. After letting Immich do its thing I compared the files with my previous backup using Krokiet hoping to remove duplicates from my old backup but lo and behold about 1 in twenty were incorrectly dated by years. What good is an image database that can’t keep track of EXIF reliably? I’m going back to regular backups.
