This morph is a line bred trait that causes the spots to form a lightning bolt pattern going down the toad's back. Southern Toads have so much natural color variation it's crazy. We're hoping to start doing similar line breeding projects with our American Toads this year.

This pair is crazy nice, I'm so happy they finally went for it. The female has these really nice red blotches all over her body with white undertones, and the male is a yellowish greenish gray color. This is the first time we've bred wild caught Southern Toads since 2023 (all other spawns have been from captive bred pairs), and if fertile this will likely be the last wild caught spawn we ever produce of this species.
