Barbarian Subclass: Path of the Spirit Warden - Looking for feedback.
Hello! This is my first time sharing homebrew content, so any feedback on the balancing/wording is much appreciated.
The idea for this barbarian subclass was born when my partner made a joke about a barbarian whose Rage is basically just channeled cuteness-aggression. So, I came up with a barbarian who employs their rage to help cute little spirit creatures. The design goals I had in mind for the gameplay of this subclass were the following: 1. I wanted to create a barbarian with more complex gameplay, as in more micro-decisions during a turn. I like the idea of managing a stationary aura with a toolbox of situationally useful effects. 2. I wanted a barbarian with some added utility for the party outside of combat. In general I think martials could do more outside of combat, as casters get to do a lot both in and out of combat. 3. I wanted a feature that meaningfully interacts with Reckless Attack, as I think it’s an interesting feature of the barbarian to design around.
I know the end result is a bit wordy and perhaps over-kitted compared to WotC barbarian subclasses, but I think barbarian could stand to do more, and I hope none of the individual features outclass other strong subclass features like Path of the Wild - Bear’s resistance to all damage.
