Fitting a solar panel question
I’m about to fit a solar panel to the roof of my VW T5.1. I think I’ve got everything I need but I’m not sure about the wiring.
I’ve got a SmartSolar MPPT which I think goes between the solar panel and the leisure battery to charge the battery. But I’ve also got a Merlin M-power Voltage Sensitive Relay attached to the leisure battery, which I think allows it to be charged via the van’s alternator.
I don’t have any other charger for the leisure battery (no EHU charger for instance).
So my question is, despite having the M-Power thing, do I still wire the MPPT directly to the leisure battery?
If I do that, is the battery going to be charged by both the solar panel AND the alternator when the van’s running?
Do I need to do anything to prevent anything being damaged by having two sources of charge for the battery?
