TN politics subreddit
Hey everyone,
I want to share something important that's been bothering me for a while, and why I felt the need to create r/TNpoliticsdiscussion_
After the Karur incident, I noticed 5 things that genuinely frustrated me across Tamil Nadu subreddits:
1️⃣ Political posts flooding every subreddit After the Karur incident, political posts exploded across every Tamil Nadu subreddit. What really irritated me was people posting heavy volumes of political content on subs that were never meant for politics in the first place. Communities built for entertainment, memes, culture, and local topics got completely buried. That is not fair to those communities.
2️⃣ Biased mods and subreddits favouring one party I noticed that some subreddits and their mods clearly favour a single political party. Posts that criticise or go against that party get quietly removed. That is not moderation — that is manipulation. A community that silences one side is not a community. It is a propaganda page.
3️⃣ Slur calling and attacking people for their political support Everyone has the right to support whichever political party they choose. That is their personal decision and we must respect that.
But what I kept seeing was people using slurs and hate to attack others simply because they support a party that someone else dislikes. Let me be very clear about what I mean:
• Calling DMK supporters "Kothadimais" or "Oopies" • Calling TVK supporters "Anils" • Calling AIADMK supporters "Nakkis" • Calling BJP supporters "Sangis"
...is absolutely wrong and completely unacceptable. This kind of name-calling does nothing productive. It only creates a toxic political environment where genuine discussion becomes impossible and hatred replaces debate.
Criticising a political party and its decisions is completely fine — that is healthy democracy. But attacking and shaming a person just because of which party they support is not criticism. It is toxicity. And it needs to stop.
4️⃣ Blind defence of party failures — especially TVK and DMK supporters This one really stands out. Many supporters — especially TVK and DMK supporters — refuse to acknowledge their own party's failures, mistakes, and atrocities. They blindly defend everything. And honestly, this blind loyalty is exactly what drives others to use slurs and shame them. If you cannot accept when your own party does wrong, you are not a supporter — you are a shield for their failures.
This is why I created r/TNpoliticsdiscussion_ — a neutral space where people can openly support their political party, with one simple condition: accept and acknowledge your own party's failures, mistakes, and atrocities when they genuinely happen.
5️⃣ We have nothing to gain from blind loyalty Think about this honestly — what do we personally gain from blindly supporting and defending a political party's mistakes and failures? Absolutely nothing. We are only fooling ourselves.
All political parties exist to serve us. We are the people. We are their purpose. We should never be fully loyal to any party — we should be neutral, aware, and honest.
The right way to support a party: ✅ If your party did something good — appreciate it and acknowledge it ❌ If your party did something wrong — accept it, acknowledge it, and call it out
Final message from me,
To everyone who engages in politics — whether you support DMK, TVK, AIADMK, BJP, or any other party — I have one simple request:
Please do not slur, hate, or shame anyone for supporting a political party that you dislike. That person has every right to support whoever they choose. Attack the politics. Never the person.
To all supporters of every party — I urge you to do one thing: Acknowledge, accept, and point out your own political party's failures, mistakes, and atrocities when they genuinely happen. Not just the failures of parties you oppose — but your own party too.
Because here is the truth that many of us forget: Political parties exist to serve us. We do not exist to blindly serve and defend them. We owe them nothing. They owe us everything.
Blindly supporting and defending a political party's mistakes and failures does absolutely nothing for you. It does not benefit you. It does not improve your life. It does not make your city safer, your roads better, or your future brighter. All it does is protect the people in power from the accountability they deserve.
If we blindly defend our parties — we are only fooling ourselves. And that is absolutely stupid.
Let us be smarter than that.
✅ Appreciate your party when they do good. ❌ Call them out when they do wrong. 🔍 Hold every party and every government accountable — without fear and without bias.
That is what healthy political discussion looks like. That is what this subreddit stands for.
I promise you this — on r/TNpoliticsdiscussion_ — no post will ever be silenced or removed because it criticises any political party or government, unlike what happens on other subreddits. Every honest voice will be heard here. Every critical post will stay up.
The only posts that will be removed are misinformation and blind hate posts with no factual basis. That is the only line.
This subreddit will always remain neutral. Always remain a free platform for genuine criticism, honest discussion, and holding our political parties and government fully accountable.
