Diagnosed 6 years ago now new rheumatologist wants to change diagnosis
I was diagnosed 6 years ago after a positive skin biopsy, supporting lab work and symptoms matching. I’ve been on hydroxychloroquine since then and it’s made a decent difference in my symptoms. Last year I had an ectopic pregnancy which sent me into a depression spiral and I never paid my bill at my rheumatologist. So when I finally got back on track and tried to pay and set up an appointment I was told I couldn’t be seen there, so I got a referral to a new one.
This one took one look at me, barely listened to what I had to say, said my “malar rash isn’t that bad.”
and then proceeded to press on spots on my body and then tell me he thinks I have fibromyalgia and not lupus and wants to take me off the hydroxychloroquine. When I asked him about my labs and positive biopsy he said, “things can change.” I go back in 6 weeks but I’m not sure if I want to, or if I should just get another referral.
Has anyone experienced something like this?
