Working/studying 50 hours a week for 4 years doable?

I’m almost 30 years old. I have no bachelor degree, only a graduaat in accountancy. I work in accountancy firm fulltime.

I doubt going for bachelor via verkort traject of 90-100 study points. I would spread this over 4 or 5 years. However it’s all via distance learning so all is self-study.

They say I will spend 10 hours a week at the study and I work 40 hours a week and during some months a lot of overtime.

I will not get more wage or tasks at my current place and I DONT plan changing jobs as I like where I’m working now. It’s just for more job security in the future if I ever lose my job etc. as in most accountant offices/companies they ask a bachelor degree.

Is this doable? And worth it? How is this for your mental and physical health? People who did something similar?

How doable is it to stay working fulltime while studying for a bachelor?

I’m 28 and already have a graduaat degree, but I’m considering going back to study for a bachelor degree while keeping my fulltime job.

Financially, I would prefer not to reduce my working hours, so the plan would be to study in the evenings and on weekends.

For people who have actually done this:

  • Was it manageable?
  • How many courses or credits did you take each year?
  • Did you still have time for family, friends or hobbies?
  • Is it doable without classes and with a lot of selfstudy as my bachelor is only given in distance learning?
  • How long did it take you to finish your degree?
  • Would you do it again?

I’m mainly looking for experiences from people in Belgium who combined fulltime work with higher education. Any advice or things you wish you had known beforehand would be greatly appreciated.

Mental health at work?

Lately I’ve been struggling a lot with anxiety while trying to keep working full-time. Some days I manage, other days it feels like I’m only surviving the workday.

Do people openly talk about anxiety, burnout or depression at work, or do most people keep it to themselves because they’re afraid of being judged or seen as less capable? I work in a very small company (less than 10 people)

I’m also curious how employers generally react if someone needs psychological help, takes medication for anxiety, or needs a short period of sick leave because of mental health.

Has anyone here gone through something similar while working?

  • Did you tell your employer or colleagues?
  • How did they react?
  • Did you continue working, take sick leave, or make other adjustments?
  • Looking back, what helped you the most?

I’m interested in hearing real experiences, both positive and negative.
